Just a month away to the unveiling of the dawn of a WHOLLY NEW communication / data portal invention.

(no, not my invention).

IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC)

http://www.ipc-ieee.org/

 LIGHT VORTEX DATA TRANSFER

If you have telecommunications stock. SELL IT       ;D ;D

Even 1 Terabyte per second is about to be made to look "Stoneage SLOW"

Ive never said this before, and it will likely be the LAST TIME I get to say it (and the first time of course).............

This new technology is going to TILT the world off its axis in the arena of comm. and data transfer.

How important?

INFINITE less power consumption, ultrafast data transfers.

Imagine server farms and your computer using 1/10,000th the power on a 1 GB download / upload / stream.

Near INFINITE error correction redundancy

Muti-spatial and holographic encryption even a dozen supercomputer could never penetrate.

Military and other uses..........IMPOSSIBLE to jam the signal. ........ repeat IMPOSSIBLE

Imagine INFINITE data redundancy in a SINGLE pulse of less than a millisecond !!!

Star Trek looks like the Flintstones , the future is here.

Faster data links are always good.

Faster data links drive compute power up, not down.  All those boxes that route and manipulate the data have to do more work.

INFINTE is a mighty big word. In this case, it means "bigger than TA's overstuffed brain can handle".

is there anything you can do beside stalk theoria and insult him?   oh wait i got it wrong. i see you were talking about yourself and just had a typo.   you meant  "bigger than TK's overstuffed brain can handle".

You clueless demented boob.

Even the "old" technology using PHASED LIGHT is "near infinite"

the NON PHASED LIGHT IS EVEN MORE SO.

Now, STFU

There are always practical limits.  But if OAM holds up to the promise it means a huge boost in wireless and fiber optic capacity.  I would think that it would have huge problems with multi-path.  But, that is not what some knowledgeable people are reporting.  OFM made a big difference in capacity as did shrinking cell size.  It is all good from a bandwidth perspective.

Do you have any other references? Soundslike interesting reading :) [/size]

I do have more info, but I promised the inventor not to say 'much' until the great unveiling at the conference.

How about this:   http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/167224-twisted-laser-vortex-breakthrough-could-lead-to-near-infinite-bandwidth-new-science

thats not it, thats phased light,

the invention upcoming to be revealed is much faster and a diff. technology.

"rougly" the "kinda" same principle

However thats the same as saying a yugo and a Porche are "both cars"

Who wants to make a bet? $500 says this will NOT happen. any takers?

Tests have been run on OAM.  It works under at least some circumstances.  At a minimum expect that more study information will be published.  Taht's not the same as saying it is going to take over wireless in the next three years.

I wonder if OAM can be applied to other areas. TMS comes to mind. I know this is a stretch but I would think that (OAM)  could be used to modulate and penetrate walls or bones on higher frequencies if propagated. It could be the start of some new science. Separately seems something that could lend itself to entanglement. I  saw an article where a Japanese scientist was theorizing that it would be possible to entangle high energy particles. Spooky power at a distance. I know its hard to couple the 2 ideas above, sorry.
