Hmm,
interesting idea,
indeed this is pretty amazing, that R1 gets hot and R2 stays cold.
Maybe it is beacuse of the sparking of the relay contacts ?
This could bring more energy into the system
as in Newman?s systems.

What battery did you use ?
What amperehours did the battery have and
how much energy did you draw from it ?
Could you compare the light output( power) from R1
during this time ?

Was the energy at R1 ( power x time) bigger than the
draw from the battery ?

Regards, Stefan.

also http://drspark.com for main page :)

Hi All,

I think the ANSWER for the question in the picture at the url above IS INCLUDED in the same picture's text: "Current is drained from the battery for 2ms every 12ms."?
It means that in Step A? ?C1+C2 is charged for 2ms,? then for 2+2+2+2+2ms there is no current taken from the battery, hence no current flows through R2, so it can always heat up only for 2/10 of that of R1.? During this 10ms the? energy received under the first 2ms is shuffled forward and backward between C1C2 and C3C4 connected in a series/parallel fashion as shown in Steps B and C? ?AND current ALWAYS flows through R1 during any of the Steps during any of the cycles.

So the different duty cycle of the currents flowing through R1 and R2 is the explanation I think.

It would be a good idea to replace R1 with a (seconder) coil of a 1:1 or max 1:2 turns ratio transformer and also replace R2 with a piece of wire (i.e. short circuit it, no need for R2) AND rectify the transformer's (primer) output with a full wave bridge and stabilize it with any IC like 7812 and connect the stabil output to the place of the battery at the right side (remove battery after start-up) and see if the cycles are maintened or dieing out.? This would be an interesting experiment, to test this kind of Tesla switch? ;)

Gyula

Current drawn from a battery includes an internal battery resistance.
Current drawn from a capacitor does not.
The capacitors can deliver much more current then the battery.
The light is actually pulsing on and off and the eye is smoothing out the flicker.
A more accurate drawing of a battery includes a resister in series with a voltage source.

Hi !

This switch looks simpler than Tesla switch with three accu sources.
What if condensators are replaced with accu batteries ?
Even more cyclus could be used before recharging batteries.
