     I believe what happens in a spark gap or partially evacuated vacuum tube is  called inverse compton scattering.  This blueshift of the incident photons can be simply described as realitivistic electrons (bound state where the uncertainty principal predicts a very high electron velocity} being cooled.  I am aware that quantom states of the electron are limited to the very small but realitivistic electrons appear to reside in both classical and quantom mechanical states.  Simply put photon goes into atomic field of influence and leaves at a higher frequency then when it went in. This is at the expense of the electron kinetic energy of the bound state electron.  Where did the excess energy come from?  Photon for example with a frequency of 1nanometer is blue-shifted to .1 nanometers.  This is an increase in energy carried by the photon at the expense of the kinetic energy of the bound state electrons if you ask me.  These little devils have inertia and when it is altered out pops a photon.  Now it becomes necessary to collect the photons and power up an antennae with rf currents and transform these currents into low frequency currents.  Not easy.  One thing I read about Tesla's experiments is that the interruptor geometric placement to the large shunts feeding the sg was important as well as the length of the shunts.  What I believe was going on in this case was that low frequency photons were being generated by the spark gap and being converted to rf currents in the shunts.  The energy building up in the system at the expense of the atoms flowing through the gap.
    I often wonder if the kinetic energy of a bound electron has ever been converted to joules?  Then I could get a handle on ionizing radiation energy invested versus potential kinetic energy available in bound state electrons.

That is the more complicated schematic. Both Hoppy and I are working with my post  Reply #17519 please ignore LHS coil configuration.

The only Diode in the circuit is for half wave rectification of the HT circuit. Both Hoppy and I have exhausted the notion of this actually being able to drive the circuit. Findings have recently been posted that the resonant frequency is about 1 MHz.

Yes you right I was not sure about Akula thinking that was Tungus.
I did make mistake.
